NOTICE OF FIREFIGHTER JOB OPENING
FULL TIME POSITION
IDABEL FIRE DEPARTMENT
Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS LISTED BELOW ARE REQUIRED BUT NOT LIMITED
MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YRS OF AGE.
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK CLOSELY WITH OTHERS AND SHARE LIVING QUARTERS
MUST BE DEPENDABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY
MUST BE ABLE TO DO HEAVY LIFTING
MUST BE ABLE TO BE AT WORK ON TIME
MUST BE IN EXCELLENT PHYSICAL CONDITION
MUST HAVE EDUCATION EQUIVALENT TO OR ABOVE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
MUST BE ABLE TO PASS REQUIRED PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST AS REQUIRED OF THE STATE FIREFIGHTER PENSION SYSTEM AND MEDICAL PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
MUST HAVE VALID OKLAHOMA DRIVERS LICENSE
MUST be able to complete required classes as needed.
APPLICATIONS MAY BE TURNED IN TO THE CITY HALL RECEPTIONIST OR TO FIRE CHIEF, GREG OLIVER AT THE IDABEL FIRE DEPT.
MUST PASS A DRUG TEST
MUST LIVE WITH-IN A 15 MILE RADIUS OF STATION.
The purpose of this notice is to advise potential applicants of a position opening, its essential
job functions and required qualifications, including physical requirements and cognitive skills.
Applications may be obtained from the City Hall receptionist desk, or from the Fire Chief at the
Idabel Fire Department, or at the city web-site, idabel-ok.gov. Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by a committee within the fire
dept. Only potentially qualified applicants will be interviewed by the committee.
Testing on cognitive communication skills will take place during the interview process. An
evaluation report from the Fire Chief will be presented for recommendation to the Mayor for hiring.
